Our Story

Our story began in the fall of 2015 in a Philosophy class at Xavier University, where we happened to sit at the same table. We quickly discovered we were also both taking Italian that semester, and what started as shared classes, grew into a study group and friendship.

A few months later, Gannon planned a party that felt, at the time, like just another college celebration. Yet, little to Josie's knowledge, it was thrown with her birthday in mind.  Looking back now, we see how much thought and heart went into that night, and how it quietly became our invisible string, the moment that tied our lives together, long before we were ready to see it.

Five years after meeting, a random Instagram follow brought us back into each other’s lives and led to our first date, which just happened to be for burgers, Josie's favorite. There was an immediate sense of familiarity, and as the night unfolded, it became clear that the thoughtfulness present years earlier had never faded. Josie knew she was in trouble and Gannon was relieved his long game had worked out perfectly.

After dating for three years, Josie mentioned the idea of moving to South Carolina for graduate school, a dream she had always held onto but didn't have the expectation of happening. Without hesitation, Gannon encouraged the application, committed to moving too, and helped turn Josie's dream into something tangible. There we shared some of our happiest days, built our first cozy home together, and learned what it meant to choose each other every day.

On July 14th, a few days after our 5th Anniversary, Gannon planned, what Josie thought, another typical weekend in Charleston. Leading us instead to a quiet spot in a park near the Ravenel Bridge that he intentionally chose, Gannon got down on one knee and Josie said YES! During our debrief, Gannon shared he picked a hotel room to view the same bridge as an easter egg and reminder during our stay, and how he planned an entire night out to celebrate. As a lover of celebrations, Josie certainly found her match.

Since then, we've moved back to Ohio, where we've been working hard side by side to find and create another cozy home, grow our careers, and lay the foundation for our future together. We look forward to all that is ahead for us and our family, more adventures, elaborate birthday parties, and a lifetime full of beautiful moments.
